Now that fall is coming, there is going to be cooler weather. As fun as fall is, the cold weather can cause or enhance back pain. Cold weather causes muscles and tendons to tighten, which support the spine, and then cause the spine to tighten. This tension puts stress on your spine and causes pain. If you already have back pain, the cooler air can cause inflamed muscles to become swollen. It’s also harder for blood to circulate to your spine when it is cooler which can cause your back and muscles to become stiff.
