After 40+ years of performing spinal operations and 20 years of performing total disc replacements my observations are that total disc replacement patients do far better than patients with fusions. They seem to be happier. They are definitely more active. I see more of them going back to work and back to vigorous activities than fusion patients. And without a doubt they have less second, third and fourth surgeries when compared to patients with fusions#therealdrc716
