Summer is a great time to go outside and enjoy the nice weather; however, sometimes the heat can be too much. If you have back pain, the heat could worsen it. You have joints in your spine that are known as baroreceptors. When the humidity increases and the weather becomes warmer, your baroreceptors cause your muscles to expand and contract to improve blood flow to your spine. This is how the heat affects your spine and causes pain.
