It’s important to factor in age when developing a treatment plan for spine surgery to ensure the best outcome for the patient. For this elderly patient, I didn’t want to be too aggressive but with multiple compression fractures causing disabling pain, kyphoplasty was the best option for providing relief. By injecting cement, this allowed me to stabilize the spine.
