Causes of Sciatica

Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve. Sciatica isn’t necessarily a condition itself, but a symptom of an underlying issue. Here are some common causes of sciatica:

  • Spinal Stenosis: Spinal stenosis is the narrowing of the spinal canal. When spinal stenosis occurs, it puts extra pressure on the nerve roots.
  • Herniated Disc: A herniated disc is a bulging disc in the lower spine that can often press on the sciatic nerve and cause pain.
  • Poor Posture: Poor posture is overall bad for spine health. Poor posture can lead to pinched nerves and pain.
