Pseudoarthrosis or a “false joint” occurs when the vertebrae fail to fuse together after surgery. In this instance, it caused pain and instability, so we went in to remove the old spinal plate and revise the fusion. I also put bone graft to give it a better chance at healing and reduce the risk of damaging the vertebrae or causing more complications.
