
Nearly everyone experiences a headache at least once in their life. Headaches are just as common as experiencing back pain; however, did you know that your spine could be causing them? Your neck, which is the top part of your spine, is connected to your head through nerves, muscles, and blood flow. If you maintain poor posture or experience muscle strain in this area, it could lead to a headache or even a migraine. Here’s what you can do to relieve spine-related headaches:
- Take Breaks from Screens: “Tech neck” is very popular today with how often we’re looking down at our computer screens or phones. “Tech neck” can strain your neck and cause pain. Every 20 minutes or so you should try to move your head and stretch your neck. Try to take a break from time to time to prevent straining your eyes and reducing your chances of getting a headache.
- Improve Your Posture: Maintaining good posture can help to relieve much of the strain on your muscles and nerves. When you’re sitting, try to keep your feet flat on the ground and your back straight with your head aligned over your shoulders.
- Manage Stress: Stress can play a big role in headaches and back pain. Try engaging in some stress relief exercises such as yoga, meditation, and deep breathing.
