Although I worked with this patient to treat one problem, after a dramatic injury put pressure on her spinal cord, the new problem fell under a different insurance that I currently do not participate in.
Anyone who has worked with me knows that my patient’s needs come first. Rather than force my patient to find a new doctor on her own – a process that could take weeks or even months while she experiences ongoing, debilitating pain – I personally reached out to another spine surgeon (and friend) that did work with this insurance.
Fortunately, he was able to see my patient the next morning and operate that same week.
