Back pain is extremely common in students. 1 in every 5 students experiences back pain. Many college students experience back pain due to the stress of classes, a new environment, and by overloading themselves. Here are some things you can do to prevent back pain in college:
- Sleep on a comfortable bed: Sleeping on a bed that is comfortable is extremely important because it ensures your back is supported which helps to prevent pain.
- Take stretch breaks from studying: Sitting for long periods of time and studying can lead to back pain. Try taking a break for 10-15 mins and stretch or try walking around campus.
- Sit properly in class: College classes tend to be an hour to an hour and 15 minutes which is a long time to sit for. It’s important that you maintain a good posture when sitting in order to prevent back pain.
