This case is a great example of how insurance can work against you sometimes by delaying necessary procedures. It took 2.5 YEARS to get this patient into the operating room, at which point they were suffering from a herniated disc + arthrosis, and showing early modic signs.
Because we can finally treat this patient, I’m performing a minimally invasive posterior fusion.
Now, I love performing total disc replacements. In my opinion, this is NOT a case for TDR. And, based on past experience, here’s why I feel that way.
