The Connection Between Fall Allergies and Back Pain

Many people every year suffer from fall allergies and believe it or not these fall allergies have a connection to back pain. Here’s how allergies can trigger back pain:

  • Widespread Inflammation: Allergies are fundamentally an inflammatory response. This inflammation doesn’t typically stay in your sinuses and will travel to your joints and soft issues causing pain. If you have a pre-existing condition, this added inflammation can make the symptoms flare up significantly.
  • Muscle Tension and Fatigue: Dealing with allergy symptoms can be exhausting when you’re always sneezing and coughing. When you’re tired, your body tends to slouch more causing neck and back pain.
  • The Force of Coughing and Sneezing: When you experience a powerful sneeze, your body contracts violently which puts a lot of pressure on your spine. When this happens repeatedly, the cumulative effect could lead to muscle strain or joint irritation.
