Back pain is most common in winter. Here are some common reasons back pain occurs in the winter:
- The cold air causes muscle tension: The cold air causes our muscles to contract and become tense because the blood flow to our muscles is slowed down. One way to avoid this is to dress warm when going outside.
- Inactivity: It’s hard to stay active during the winter because of how cold and dreary it is, but it is extremely important to stay active to keep your muscles moving and tense-free. If you don’t exercise, your back will become tense and will become more prone to injuries.
- Poor posture: We tend to sit on the couch more during the winter because there isn’t much to do. Our postures become bad when sitting on the couch for too long. Try to keep your back straight and to not sit in one place for too long.
