There are a bunch of myths surround spine surgery and I’m going to debunk a few of them:
- Myth: Surgical treatment is the first option. Surgical treatment is almost never the first option. Surgical treatments aren’t really considered an option until alternative treatments have not yielded successful results.
- Myth: Recovery from spine surgery always takes forever. Spine surgery is an intricate process and can take some time to heal and recover, but not all cases result in prolonged recovery periods.
- Myth: You’ll become addicted to painkillers. While painkillers can be addictive, your doctor will work with you to prescribe the right amount for your pain and for the length of your recovery period. Your doctor will ensure that you take them safely and correctly.
