I’ve experienced the operating room from both sides: as a surgeon and as a patient. I dislocated and injured my shoulders on a few occasions. After three separate surgeries, my shoulders can be a little, well, cranky. One of the major tenets of orthopedics is “traction” to relieve joint pain. Here’s how I perform orthopedic traction at home to provide relief and maintain good shoulder health.
