Wednesday Workout: Stretch and Strengthen Hamstrings

  • Post category:Exercise

Remember Reverse Hypers? This exercise helps strengthen hamstrings and glutes, but is also great for spinal decompression!

Stretching and strengthening your hamstrings can actually reduce lower back pain. When hamstrings are short or tight, they pull on your pelvis, tilting it back, which pulls your lower back forward. This creates a muscle imbalance and can strain the surrounding ligaments, worsen any bulging discs, and even restrict movement.

While short hamstrings won’t be the sole cause of lumbar pain, strengthening these muscles can help provide a little day-to-day relief.
